The project, led by Dr. Anzhele Popyk from the Institute of Social Sciences at SWPS University in Warsaw and Dr. Maryna Marko from the Department of Pedagogy, Psychology and Educational Management at the Transcarpathian Institute of Postgraduate Education, aims to examine the dynamics of civic engagement of Ukrainian youth (aged 15–18) affected by migration in Poland and/or the need to move within Ukraine.

Project aim

The researchers involved in the project analyzed the participation of the studied youth in social life (including school and local communities), trying to understand how young people cope with difficulties, how they interact with social structures and how they use opportunities to engage in civic and pro-social activities.

Methodology

Qualitative research (in-depth interviews and focus groups) was carried out in five locations in Poland (Warsaw, Rzeszów, Katowice, Zamość and Przemyśł) and Ukraine (Lviv, NovoJavorivsk, Uzhhorod and Mukachevo).
